Mark Schubert named Head Coach/CEO of Golden West Swim Club

Mark Schubert, has been hired as the Head Coach and CEO of Golden West Swim Club in Huntington Beach, California. Schubert coached on the staff of 8 Olympic teams from 1980 to 2008. Schubert was the Head Coach of the USA Swimming Olympic Team in 2008 in Beijing. The team won 33 medals. Coach Schubert has coached 26 Olympians including Janet Evans, Lenny Krazelburg, Brian Goodel, and Brad Bridgewater. He coached for the Mission Viejo Nadadores, winning 49 National Championship Titles and also coached for the Mission Bay Makos winning 9 National Team Titles. He was the Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach for University of Southern California. He was also the Women’s’Coach at the University of Texas. His NCAA teams have won under his direction; 3 NCAA Team Championships and 49 Individual NCAA Titles. Coach Schubert was inducted in the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1997 as an Honor Coach. He has received numerous “Coach of the Year” awards from over 5 organizations.

Coach Schubert has called the Orange County area home. His goal is to build a solid and successful swim organization.   Building a strong senior swimming program and age group program in his home town, known as “Surf City, USA” is an important quest and vision.Coach Schubert has also been hired by Golden West College to be the Head Swim Coach for their program.

Golden West Swim Club has shown tremendous growth and improvement as a team in the past few months. Huntington Beach is the perfect location for a program to exude excellence in aquatics. The support for swimming is exceptional in this community.
