Golden West Swim Club swimmer, Cindy Tran, 18, capped off
an excellent high school swimming career by setting a new High
School National Record in the 100 yard Backstroke. Her time
of 51.85 eclipsed the previous record by a full second.
The old record belonged to two times defending Olympic
Champion in the 100 Meter Backstroke, Natalie Coughlin with a 52.86
set in 1998. The record was broken during the finals session of the
CIF Southern Section Championships on May 14, at the Belmont Plaza
Olympic Pool in Long Beach, CA.
With the
record breaking swim she successfully defended her title in the 100
Back and made it three straight in the process. She also was
the runner up in the 50 Yard Free.
